KAT – Competence Network for Applied and Transfer-oriented Research

The Competence Network for Applied and Transfer-Oriented Research (KAT) is the network of universities of applied sciences in Saxony-Anhalt. The Network's goal is to transfer knowledge and technology to the regional economy. KAT's cooperation with the regional economy increases the rate of innovation and thus secures the competitiveness of regional companies.

Various forms of knowledge and technology transfer are practiced: In addition to traditional personnel transfer (student internships, Bachelor's or Master's theses, graduate placement), consulting services, joint research and development projects, use of university laboratory resources or further training measures are offered to regional companies.

Within the framework of KAT, each university of applied sciences has a transfer officer who examines incoming inquiries and identifies the appropriate problem-solving expertise within the KAT network. In addition, KAT works on research priorities to offer an outstanding profile for each university of applied sciences in the Network. These research priorities are based on the innovation strategy of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
