Alumni Portraits: Curiosity as life's essence

Katja Makoben works as a road design consultant at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital Affairs in Saxony-Anhalt. In this role, she reviews planning proposals for road construction projects in the state. What she particularly appreciates about her job is that it allows her to work strategically. Her job becomes a matter close to her heart whenever it involves the expansion of cycle paths. As a cyclist herself, she couldn't be happier with her career choice. She previously completed her bachelor's degree in water management and her master's degree in civil engineering (civil and transport engineering) at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences.  Read more...

Research on Campus: PflewaK – Coping with care events in a chosen family context using the example of LGBT* people in need of care – The relevance of social networks in care

The aim of the ‘PflewaK’ research project is to find out what forms of social support are provided by chosen family networks and what role this support plays in coping with care events. In addition, the project will investigate the experiences of LGBTI* seniors and their relatives and friends with elderly care. Andreas Gutscher and Tanja Dietsch are alumni of the Health Promotion and Management programme at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and were guests at the company contact fair on the Magdeburg campus in May 2025. Both work at the Institute for Applied Quality Promotion and Research in Healthcare, based in Göttingen.
